OIT has built a tool for MFA self-recovery, that will generate a TAP (Temporary Access Pass), to allow someone to enroll a replacement/new/additional device.

MFA Self-recovery TAP

This tool will only work if you have account recovery options already setup (personal email or SMS) AND it is NOT available to some employees that have financial or elevated access and need additional security.

To start the MFA recovery process, click or tap on Microsoft Entra MFA Recovery and follow the prompts to obtain a TAP code. The process will email or text you a code you can use to authenticate and sign in to the Microsoft Authenticator to setup MFA on a new or wiped device.

To Confirm/Update your Recovery Options:

  • Confirm that your Password Recovery information is showing and is correct and verified.  If not, select the edit icon to update that information.
